Jos Milton
Tenor Jos Milton, recently relocated to Northern California, has quickly established
himself as busy concert artist.  H
aving already made several appearances with the Sonoma
County Choral Society and other concert ensembles,
For the 07/08 season, he will appear
w
ith the Santa Rosa Symphony in their performances of Bach’s B-minor mass as the tenor
soloist
.  Prior to his arrival in California, Jos was a resident artist with the Bach Vespers
Series at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in New York City, where he performed solo
s in
more than thirty Bach cantatas.  Other concert appearances include Britten’s
Serenade for
Tenor, Horn, and Strings
with the Goucher Chamber Symphony, Bach’s St. Matthew Passion
with the Concert Artists of Baltimore, Bach’s
Mass in b minor with Bach Vespers at Holy
Trinity, and Handel’s
Messiah with the Annapolis Chamber Orchestra and the Handel
Choir of Baltimore.  

Equally at home on the operatic stage, Mr. Milton w
ill sing Pedrillo in Abduction from the
Seraglio
for Sonoma City Opera under the direction of Michael Fontaine.  Other roles
include the title role in
Stravinsky’s Mavra, Arbace in Mozart’s Idomeneo, the Chaplain in
Poulenc’s
Dialogues of the Carmelites, Alfred in Strauss’ Die Fledermaus, and Elder Hayes in
Carlisle
Floyd’s Susannah with companies in Baltimore, Santa Fe, Utah and Washington,
DC
.  Jos's performance in Short Scores at New York’s Symphony Space was recorded and
broadcast on New York Public Radio.  In 2004, Jos made his European stage debut as
Rodolfo in the New Opera Festival di Roma production of
La Boheme.  

Jos is a graduate of the Peabody Conservatory of Music, where he received a Doctor of
Musical Arts degree in voice.  He was raised in Houston, Texas and currently resides in
Calistoga with his wife Ashley.
